Thanks for the replies. I've ruled out the belt (for now) RetroMan - I see the switches that you mentioned. How exactly would I go about resetting them? Thanks |

From what I remember they are just basically small up and down switches. Sort of like rocker ones. They just click into the opposite position that they are in now. Hopefully this helps. Jon |

Hi. I'm assuming you're talking about a Neptune Mah4000? If so, you could be chasing one of a couple of things
You could be chasing a failed unbalance switch. There are two impact switches at approx. 3 and 6 o'clock around the tub and an inertial switch that mounts either at 12 or next to the side impact switch. All three make a circuit and all one has to do is open to tell the machine its out of imbalance and try to redistribute. If any of the three are bad, it'll never spin. Broken wires at these switches are also common. Another great possibility is that the spin enable switch in the door latch assembly is flaking out. This is very common. It's the far right switch in the door lock Assy and is replaced at least once in the machines lifetime. As the door lock wax motor extends and locks the door, it first hits a switch that turns on the lock light. Then it hits the enable switch which tells the board that the door is locked and to go ahead and spin. If it's flakey, the machine will tumble back and forth waiting for the switch to say to spin. Eventually, it just gives up and shuts down with wet clothes. I change these frequently on the older machines. While you're there, look at the wax motor on the left. It's the reddish brown rectangle with the point at one end. If that point is the same color as the rest of it, CHANGE IT to the upgraded one which has a back tip. Failure to do so can and will get expensively ugly... I'm assuming the door locks. If so, then that eliminates the upper machine control board which is good. Again, check that wax motor as the old one shorts out and takes the VERY pricey upper board out with it. Hope this helps! RCD |
