As promised in my other thread, here are the photos I took of the two washers at the Boyd sale in Vancouver, WA. The Bendix in the garage was a total surprise! There was a dryer in the basement, but it was newish and fairly boring.

Pretty sure the Kenmore washer was priced at $100 and the Bendix was priced at $75. If they don't sell by Sunday, there will be an auction.

Sorry about the subpar quality of all my photos today... the place was absolutely claustrophobic. I simply couldn't get a straight-on shot of the Bendix.

O.M.F.G.!!!
That's the Economat my grandfather brought home after beating my grandmother as a forgiveness present like the dozens of vanity sets ( table mirror, hand mirror, brushe, comb and a box of Whitman Samplers.) ,and apology cards. Mado ( my grandmothrrs chozen name over granny or nanna) hated the Bendix from day 1. The service guy was out at least once a month to replace the exploded rubber tub. Mom had no idea how to properly load clothes in it and would forget to turn things with zippers and hooks inside out to keep it from piercing holes in the rubber tub causng implosoons and a "flat, torn up tub". It was finally replaced not long after I was born with an Easy Rivera 2 speed solid tub automatic. That was also a lemon. The pump was failing and making us go to the laundromat. We got our gem of a combo gas Sears Lady Kenmore combination washer dryer. That gem lasted.our family of twelve a daily drive no less then 3 loads a day from 1963 to 1984 when Betty,my stepmother claims it took too long and almost trashed it. The service contract had been renewed another 5 years and I took it off their hands as Sears did a complete overhaul using rebuilt parts since they'd stopped production on them. I wish I still had it. Oh well,my LGs are working great.

Oogh, sorry to hear about the terrible history of your family's Bendix. Bad enough that it was an apology present, but then it didn't even work right?! I hope your Mado was okay in the end... :(a

Wow - that Economat may not be in great shape, but it's worth saving - there can't be to many Bendixes (or is the plural 'Bendices'...LOL) like this left around!
