which agitatorless machine is better ? at least the GE Harmony has been around a couple years so they could work the "bugs" out? Do they work the same or similarly I would assume?

Comforter cycle

The Oasis has a "Bedding" cycle that fills to the top. Otherwise both machines fill "halfway" or enough for the clothes to move with the disk.

Best agitator-less machine? Why, a front-loader, of course, gregm, LOL!

(I'm ducking and running as fast as I can...)

I think Gregm meant agitatorless washers that used more than a cup of water.

(ducks and runs)

I'm a gadget geek. I like the touchscreen on the Harmony.

Yes, Robert selected the throw rugs cycle. It fills all the way up on the Harmony. Equivalent to bulky cycle on Oasis. Look at it this way, 1/2 way fill is better than the marginal fill of the Calapso.

I am tired of all these eco-bolsheviks with their water restrictions. Time for a counter-revolution and to bring back washers with inovation like kelvinators, philco, etc.
It is ok for people to use plenty of water for lawns, etc. but not for washing machines. I hear that TL's are supposed to disappear in the next year or so and we will all be stuck with front loaders with little water in the tubs.

westy's

Why can't we have a washer like the westy FL with a bigger drum and the appropriate amount of water (same percentage fill)? I lived in house once that had one from about 1980--the amount of time used for the cycle was much less than today's FL's, everything came out clean and well rinsed, and it still used much less water than a TL. I wish we could just go back to when things were much simpler.

Completely agree with the above two. I wonder if writing letters would help? Or is it too late to save appliances from the current Energy-Star brainwash...

Ironically, in California, by far the most water used is for agriculture - and there is a LOT of waste there. There is little incentive for some agricultural areas to conserve water - they have cheap plentiful water due to old agreements, and even though they could probably cut consumption by half without affecting production, they choose not to bother.

I think the figure is something like 75% of water used here is for agriculture.

Oasis, why, because it has a window LID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, perhaps they aren't trying to hide what's going on inside.

My guess.

OK, ENOUGH OF THIS !!!!

With the collective brain power, artistry, resourcefulness and connoiseurship of this group, WE, the appliance-philosopher kings and queens, should be the ones to design the Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers of the future, not the rancid bean-counters of WCI, GE and Whirlpool. We should do a contest for the best designs in each category and somehow forward the winners to Oprah, Martha or somebody outside of the government or industry to get them built. ( if nothing else, it would once and for all prove whether the United States is a profit or excellence driven culture).

Can you imagine the results? Even the Homers would be great for at least a couple of yuks.

WE ARE THE BORG(Borg-Warner, that is)..RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
