Can anyone help? I recently replaced the spinner microswitch on my Hoover 3312L. I was using the machine for a short time afterwards and it was behaving normally when there was a very loud bang and the spin motor ran down to stop. The pulsator still works. I left the machine for a few days hoping in a slightly insane way that if I left it alone and stared at it for long enough it would just work again... Clearly this is not the case... I turned the spinner on again through an RCD - there was a popping sound, a smell of ozone and then nothing... Does anyone have any ideas what could have happened? The motors are an area I know nothing about and I just don't know where to start... Please help!

Steve, thank you so much - that is exactly what the problem is! I have removed the motor and sure enough found the scorched and blown suppressor as can be seen in the photo. Tomorrow I will fit a replacement from a donor Spinarinse I have. In my investigation I found that the tub to pump and pressure switch hose had split and was leaking perilously near the motor. Again thank you - I really didn't expect such a fast and accurate response!
