Hi Guys,

I need a some advice. When my Series 80 Kenmore goes into the spin cycle I need to give the basket a little push to get it spinning. I tighten the belt and it starts spinning light loads but heavier loads I need to give it a push. Any suggestion on what the problem my be? I can post serial & model number later this evening if needed.

Thanks

David

Is this a direct drive? Sounds like you either have a bad clutch, or a bad main shaft on the gear case and it it leaking onto the clutch

The washer is belt drive.

Worn or out of adjustment basket drive. There should be 1/16th inch clearance I believe between the clutch plate and where it contacts the pulley. My grandmas 59 Kenmore got the same way after 15 years or so. Plus it needed center post bearings. It got scrapped for a boo Kenmore, large capacity, Penta vane model. Ugh!!
