funny ad.

Norge washer and dryer combo from the late 60-ies.
Literally just out of the box: it is probably in working condition but I never tested it.
I got it from a thrift store and kept it for its design and beauty as a decorational item.
Lack of space plus the inconvenience of getting my bunny rabbit out from under it makes me let it go.
Its weight compared to a present day washing machine is like a 1968 Lincoln Continental's to some plastic Toyota's.
If you are not at least 3 superstrong Men I won't let you touch it, because all you will do is tear up my floor, knock out my door frame, smash the beutiful appliance and die when it will fall on you.
I am quite flexible on the price - as long as you offer more than what I am asking for :)
I prefer texts.
Susan

A deal has been made with the seller, I really appreciate your posting this ad Barry.

I bought this same machine from Cory a year ago but this one is in better condition and will make it much easier to have one that can actually be demonstrated at the museum.

I think that it is the first model that Norge made, it is likely 59-60 maybe 61, I know they restyled and continued producing combos for a few more years after this model.

Good heavens!  It's amazing that stuff like this is still out there!

Yes, it did spin, but at the usual limited spin speed of the early, non-Bendix combos, somewhere around 200-225 rpm. In spite of that, it was a fast combo because Norge put a huge fan in it. Go to the Imperial Forum and type Norge Combo in the search window and read more about this machine from when we bought the first one.

Year

Of course, I don't really know for sure. But judging by the knobs on this machine, I would say it was of '59 vintage. The old bol machines I had from '59 had the same kind of knobs. I think that '59 was the first year that norge quit using the "time line" dial too. Beautiful machine.

Now that would have been wild, a combo with the Timeline controls: one for wash and one for dry.

You really have to be grateful to the Internet for things like this, otherwise how would you know they even existed? An ad in the local classifieds or Penny Saver wouldn't cut it. Of course it could have been spotted in your local Salvation Army Store, but I doubt it.

Yea John!!!

I am so happy you found this gem for all to see and watch. I think you should set a day and time and film the entire cycle showing the movement of the interior and controls in action and be sure there's a nice lit up interior during the cycles. Great score!!!!Hope the price wasn't too excessive! !!!

Tim just called me from Knoxville and says he's got the combo in the back of the van YAY.

Tim and his brother just picked it up and Tim is going to drive it up to Washington DC next weekend he's also bringing a surprise 1957 Norge timeline washer and we're going to have a Norge weekend and hook them both up after minor adjustments in servicing and we promise to do videos and share them with all thanks to everybody especially Barry for posting this.
