Two center dials

Was there a separate infrared broiler at the top of the oven that would explain the second control in the center?

It is going to be pricey to have those burner bowls re-chromed. The EPA has put all sorts of regulations in place for the chemicals involved.

The FIRST!

Gas range with a broiler in the top of the oven instead of under it.

I was hoping 2nd knob was meant for just the broiler.

THIS is the stove I want.....really really badly....
It is so hard to find a good vintage gas 30"....
Did these have standing oven pilots?

Yes!

I believe these were CP ranges so they would have had standing pilots.

Forgive my ignorance, what is a CP stove?

Nope...

CP stood for Certified Performance, something the American Gas Association came up with I believe in the late 30s, it was a set of standards for a top of the line gas range, all burners had to light automatically, the oven and broilers had to have automatic shut off safety pilots, at least 2 giant burners and a host of other standards, if you see a old gas range with the CP label, you know it is a top of the line model.

Thanks, norgeway, for the info. Where would the CP label be on stoves from this time? BTW, how'd you learn so much about stoves? It's great to talk to people who are so knowledgeable - I've learned so much.
Thanks!
Lauren

Old shelter magazines from the 40s, 50s and 60s, but mostly the 50s, like Better Homes & Gardens, American Home, Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Urinal and, surprisingly, Saturday Evening Post (which was great for Westinghouse ads) had extensive appliance advertising which could prove very educational to interested boys who lived and breathed appliances. Also, older Consumer Reports and Consumer's Research Bulletin issues have a great deal of product background as well as brand & model specific information.
