CR has rated some of the Blomberg appliances, here's there summary. Actual ratings are behind the pay-wall.
I would be nice to have some other reliable options for sure. The Blomberg stuff has been getting mixed reviews on the gardenweb/houzz site. Dishwasher performance is all over the place - one site says great, some users say it's really bad, but this goes for ratings across the board with all brands. I'm glad I don't need a newfangled dishwasher! CLICK HERE TO GO TO gansky1's LINK |

The parent company is "Arcelik". According to the story they are price leaders. Say hello to Kenmore if Sears is still open. |

"some say they have horrible reliability"
I wouldn't say that at all. Beko appliances are not bad. I don't know how it will be in the US, but here in Slovenia Beko offers a 5 years warranty and for the very affordable price you pay you get quite a lot, that's why I'm saying they are not bad at all. That's my opinion but I know many people who have Beko appliances and they are sattisfied with them. For many of them they have lasted many years. Beko is also quite popular in Britain as in other European countries. |

Right folks, I can speak from experience with this one.
Blomberg We had a Blomberg washing machine in the UK when we lived there. Bought new in 2001, it was a solid performer that didn't put a foot wrong. We considered bringing it back to Oz with us but in the end didn't as we sold our flat fully furnished. Another friend who had the model above ours did bring it to Oz and he only recently got rid of it. That makes it 14 years old. Good going for a modern machine.
Beko Fisher and Paykel sold Beko rebadged under their own label. My mother bought one to replace her 20 year old ASEA 7 years ago. Again, it's been fault less.
Finally, we also have a Beko. It replaced a very hard working Westinghouse badged Zanussi. With the exception of it having a fussy balance routine, I have been unable to fault it. It's quiet, has good programming with a variety from 15 minutes to 3 hours and simply gets on with it. It was also inexpensive.
Both my mother and I would happily buy another. |

Arçelik owns a lot more than these two brands. But none of the washers are made in Germany anymore.

I don't understand why you're unimpressed? Currently I'd suggest you have nothing to be unimpressed about, having not laid eyes or hands on them nor had experience with owning one.
If anything, I'd have thought that testimonials from several AW members over the years would serve as nothing but a positive spin on a new brand and provide an element of honest information rather than that provided in any advertising or 'I've heard...' style gossip.
If you receive similar programming to the Australian market, which is different to that supplied to the UK market, I think Americans will be happy. Quite frankly, I'm ecstatic with the washing AND rinsing performance.
So if you can't rely on your peers, national and international, to give honest feedback on what we use and own, who the devil can you rely on? |

I can also speak for some experience on this one...
I had a Beko for a short while. I had mixed feelings about it. Sometimes it did a great job, sometimes it wouldn't. There were some cycles it just didn't use enough water at all to wash or rinse. Cottons standard rinsing was pretty bad in my opinion, just not enough water. Also the spin balancing just got on my nerves in the end. It would only spin my sheets at full speed perhaps 3/10 times as well as loads of towels. Clothes it generally worked fine with if the load wasn't too full. I guess my expectations were too high and i'm a bit too fussy. Currently love my Fisher and Paykel front load however, seems to hit every nail on the head so far! It will be interesting to see what America makes of Beko. matt |

I was in Israel earlier this month and had at least seen a Bloomberg fridge...
The refrigerator section had long fluorescent lights down the right and left rear sections and the freezer was unlit and everything was kept in a couple sets of "vault" drawers... The freezer door opened sideways... I agree, the products need to actually come to these shores, if not be in the marketing stage where even Consumer Reports should really rate 'em, where any judgement goes in terms of reliability/performance... Then again, why not a write-up done here, if not a brand made here, altogether?! Hard in our GE/Whirlpool/Electrolux-owned Kingdom-world to have our own "new kid on the block", but still--!!!! -- Dave |

I have found at least online, Home Depot and Best Buy are selling Premier ranges. I cannot understand how the company expects to be competitive with the major brands, none of them self clean and even online, they appear to be kind of cheap built but quite expensive. For as much as you pay for a Premier you can buy a self cleaning range with better parts from GE/Frigidaire/Kenmore. Wonder who is their customer?

Compare the earliest Beko products that arrived here in the 90s against today's offerings, and you probably wouldn't believe it was the same company. As has already been mentioned, the brand has become very well established, and gone on to capture a fairly large slice of the UK market. Helped along in no small part, I wonder, by some of the older brands no longer making a product anything like those they became renowned for.
Beko is not an "aspirational" brand, that niche has already been been cornered elsewhere. The product range runs from entry level to mid-price, with more emphasis on the latter in recent years. Here they compete against the likes of Hoover, Hotpoint and Zanussi/Electrolux. The closest US equivalent for comparison's sake would probably be Frigidaire or GE, if that helps give an idea of where it sits in the market. At the moment I have a Beko fridge freezer and a Grundig heat pump dryer (Grundig being the TOL Beko sub-brand). Previously I had a Beko condenser dryer which pumped out 8-10 loads every week for five years without issue, and still ran like new when I sold it on. No complaints here, they've all far exceeded my expectations. |

As I've mentioned there was a Blomberg fridge I had seen at one brother-in-law's apartment, which is a 2nd home, that until my 2nd visit there, I had been unaware of them having...
Doesn't seem far-fetched that this brand should make it to these shores (somehow looking it up (Blomberg Appliances) yields quite a surprising assortment of retailers in the US for it) and isn't it, according to what I've read after that visit upon looking it up, (before this thread surprisingly came along) a division of a brand make in Turkey? (Who also makes this Beko name perhaps?)
Again, we're doomed to see the demise of our American brands, yet again beheaded by another Elektrolux-takeover, as we will eternally suffer the inability to ever introduce our OWN "new kid in town" overseas, as we once did...
