It is with much regret that I must report that I have discovered a leak in a refrigerant line in this freezer that I had formerly offered for sale. I actually have a buyer lined up, through Craigslist, coming to get it tomorrow, but now I will have to tell them not to bother.
It's not out of refrigerant, yet, but it displays the classic symptoms of low refrigerant, ie most of the evaporator stays warm, while the first couple of feet frost over.
I wish I had the time and energy to repair it, that would be a fun project, but alas I have little extra of either. I really don't want to see it scrapped, but I'm afraid that may well be where it's headed. It garnered little interest even when it was thought to be working well lol.
I'm sticking it on here just in case there's someone that would like to save it. The repair would be relatively easy. The leak was caused by two lines vibrating against each other, possibly since it was new, and is easily accessible.
In the last photo you can see the telltale refrigeration oil on the two lines where they touch.
