This would be a twelve hour round trip for me.. Maybe someone here in the Seattle area can get it?

Old School

It's newer than my '57 by a few years, yet it appears not to have the forced draft condenser system.  If it did, it would have a grille up front instead of a solid panel, so on the subject fridge the condenser would be mounted to the back of the unit.

Why

Do that always say "just needs cleaning" or "you can wipe it down"
Why can't they clean it before they take the pic?

1) Lazy
2) Indifferent
3) Way too busy
4) If You want it bad enough, you'll be glad to clean it.

Stan: You speak my thoughts - every search, I see slobby looking appliances and the seller has them trashed with junk on top of the washer or dryer, have the refrigerators sitting on the grass, back alley, garage and dirty looking as though they picked it up from a hog mud hole. And the asking price is slap-you-silly overpriced.

Hi Phil

I just don't get it ? If I wanted to sell or give something away, and I was using a pic.. I'd want it to look as good as possible.
I was looking for a vintage sink on a local Craigslist and couldn't tell if I wanted to make the trip to look at it or not, because I couldn't tell what was dirt, or damage. I almost sent the seller a message asking that they wipe it off, re take the photo so I could see it better.
Whats wrong with people?

@stan: I think ovrphil said it best, besides, at least the poster isn't scrapping it and hopefully someone that appreciates it will pick it up if it's still available.

Consideriing that ...

it's free, that's the ticket for having no interest in cleaning it. I'd be interested in what's inside, parts and condition, before committing to a 12 hour(at least) drive up there. Especially since we drive 12-14 hours to get to Michigan to visit the families, and I remember driving PCH-101 from Portland to San Francisco. I'd ask for some interior shots and what's missing or included?

I don't think it's anywhere near special enough to warrant six hours one way, even if it's complete and will clean up.

I was pushing it by driving 4+ hours one way to Reno/Sparks for my '57 Combination, plus I had to rent a truck.  RCD had rescued it and offered it for free and I'm glad I went for it, but "free" is a relative term.

People who advertise things like these for free or very cheap on Craigslist usually don't expect they'll stir any interest to people who live hundreds of miles away.

They usually think someone local is going to show up and get them without any significant expense.

I recently got a 1960 Frigidaire French-Door range that was in average shape but it was advertised for free. The owner even offered me her fridge (a newer fridge that was in good shape) for the same price! She even bothered to clean both before giving them to a stranger. I was so happy about that that I had to give her some money. She refused but I insisted!

A week later, someone offered me a 1960 Frigidaire Frost-Proof freezer and a 1964 Frigidaire refrigerator for free too. He helped me move these out of his home and he even offered me and my friend who went to help some money! Some people are just too nice!

We had to refuse the money.

The guy just wished he had known me when he scrapped his pair of Aztek Copper 1964 Frigidaire Custom Imperial washer and dryer a few years ago. They were still working but he got a newer set for free... He had kept a few parts from these and he gave them to me! Too bad he didn't keep the control panels!
