Why Pay $6K for a Radarange, When You Can Get One for Only $2K???? |

Just found this one on eBay. What a deal! With prices this low, how can you pass it up? The economy must be entering a recession! It even says Free Delivery (anywhere???).

The hipster movement and delusionability of the populace
I have noticed that the price of various antiques have been going up astronomically lately. My best guess is that the rules of supply and demand have been working well and the hipster movement has spiked the demand for antiques,thus the price went up.
Another factor is the people who look at an old object and say "its metal and old so it must be valuable". They are delusional! Just the other day I was at the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore and saw an old Opaque Projector with a price tag of $60. So I went to work at the clerk/manager and asked her "What is it?" She could not answer and thus asked a few other employees. She came up empty. I then said "How can you justify the price if you haven't a clue of what it is. She said "Good question!" I then explained what it was and she gave it to me for $20. | ||

With a sellers name of 'Vegasluckylady' you KNOW it must be a good deal.
And as a bonus, it does not have any rust, the likes of which is .... common with..... microwave ovens.(?)
I don't collect microwave ovens, but I'm adding this one to my watch list. Maybe she'll drop the price $50 or even $100. What a bargain it will be. How can I say no? | ||

Vintage Amana MWOs 1500 watts is the power consumption not the power output, these older Amanas were a little faster than most other MWs of their time but only put out a little over 700 watts when most others were putting out about 650 watts.
MWOs lake many other appliances have gotten more energy efficient in the last decade or so, now a good MWO will put out over a 1000 watts and still only uses about 1500 watts of input power. | ||

I just know it would be an absolute BARGAIN if I made a low-ball offer of $1000, but I know she'd never accept that.
Hey, $2000 simply MUST be a good deal, compared to the $5,900 one.
I don't know about you people but I'm going to buy now. Prices may never be this low again. I think these deals may only last through this weekend ONLY !

I can tell you for sure that Mr. $5900 is plenty informed ; ) He tried to sell it to me for a couple grand 'off' before listing it on eBay a year or so ago. I very politely declined and informed him of the market value but that didn't seem to persuade him. Why the heck he thinks it's worth 6 grand I'll never know....

Like many others in this group
Have spent my fair share of time on CL or fleaPay looking at vintage appliances. Cannot get over at times what persons want for older appliances. Things that until the advent of Internet would have been taken to the tip or just thrown away. Perhaps the better bits would have gone to a thrift or some such resale.
Case in point have been considering a wringer washer of late. Well you'd think it was 1946 instead of 2016 by some of the prices being asked. Maytag wringers are great machines I suppose, but not at $500 for something located on a farm in remote Nebraska. Who or whom told this seller that Radarange is worth nearly 6K, I don't know. You there is at lest one other on eBay atm for about $150. Can only guess persons see the odd one off vintage appliance that sold for vast sums and believe every piece of tat they find is worth same. Which if course is rubbish. A NIB Apex "bouncing basket" this microwave ain't. | ||

 There's probably a good reason why most charities won't take donations of used microwave ovens.
In most cases it costs more than the oven is worth to repair a failed magnetron.
And those who shop at Goodwill can go to Walmart or Target or Kmart and get a new working mwave for a pittance.
I will however admit that the heavily chromed old Radar Ranges make for a period statement.
