This thread is an offshoot of Rollermatic's thread on his appliances available to new homes. There are pictures of Mike Dishwashercrazy using an Escalera Staircat to load appliances into his truck. I also have a Staircat and have created this thread to elaborate on its virtues.
An Escalera Staircat is an appliance dolly (or hand truck) which features a battery-powered electric motor driving a stair climbing mechanism. I use my Staircat to easily and safely move appliances up and down stairs and over thresholds. Mine has 2 adjustable self-retracting straps to hold the appliance in place. The straps look and function like automotive seat-belts. Mine has a rated capacity of 700 pounds, but the heaviest thing I have moved with it is a Chambers range. They are expensive, but worth it! I have seen them new in the range of $2,400, but I bought mine second-hand and paid less (although it was more than I have ever paid for an appliance). Sometimes these can be rented from an equipment rental company. I don't use it every day, but when I use it, it's the best thing in the world! I can safely move my appliances without help (when it is used properly). How to tell when you're a really serious collector! Dave CLICK HERE TO GO TO Volvoguy87's LINK |
