It makes me wonder what they're going to do with the Huebsch brand in Canada.

Also, Huebsch washers with the electronic controls have those funky symbols for the control panel so that they don't have to worry about the bilingual requirements for Canadian appliances. (Shown in link below) It makes me wonder if the Canadian version of the Speed Queen models will still have those funky symbols.

The speedqueen.ca domain is registered to "Grace's Places Inc." and expires on February 19th, 2017. There's no website there. (www.speedqueen.ca... doesn't exist.) Apparently, they're a rental apartment management company.. Hmmm...

I think this is great news.. I wonder how much they paid to Whirlpool to buy the rights to the brand name?

Great!

I can't even pronounce the brand name of the machines Alliance sells instead of Speed Queen in Canada. Huebsch, how's that supposed to sound?!

The only good thing I see about Canada not having Speed Queen brand in a long time is that searches for vintage stuff is easier to do just by typing the brand name on classified ad websites! It allowed me to find my Speed Queen dryer that's still waiting to be matched to a solenoid washer and this SQ microwave oven from the eighties!

Huebsch is pronounced like "Hib-sch". That's Alliances commercial brand outside of the USA.

Just got a response back from Alliance. Apparently, the Canadian Speed Queen washers are going to have the funky symbols on the electronic control panels.

I guess since there is a lot of space adjacent to the control panel, there's no reason why someone couldn't just tape a piece of paper next to it with a guide, or with just a copy of what the American control panels look like.

Canadian use of the Speed Trade Mark

Just found this on the net. FYI you all. With the exception of court fees... seems ALS didn't have to cough up any dough...
