Had I been paying attention to ebay at all for the last few months, I wouldn't have missed out on this! Presuming model FPI 14b-64 (Someone got it for $75). Pics for posterity, in case anyone out there is as Sheer-Look happy as I am.
Not sure if this is a factory color in '64 or not. I know it was in '66. Possibly it's a custom job, but PhilR will probably know for sure…looks to be a decent quality spray job if it was done later on.

Gosh,

That's pretty.

Right through the 1970's, it was common for better automotive paint shops to paint large home appliances to match kitchen colors. This could be one such piece of unusually good work. Or, given that our sunny yellow 1968 Frigidaire Custom Deluxe can't exist and yet glows on in this beautiful yellow-with-just-a-touch-of-green shade, I wouldn't be surprised if this were a GM poppy red.

The appliance companies (GM and Sunbeam in particular) were not absolutists about such things back in the day.

I'm glad this beautiful (and quite good) refrigerator was saved from the crusher.

Panthera~1st of all, your avatar is EVERYTHING. Agnes is my fave :D Regarding these paint jobs, yeah…my dad used to do custom paint for fridges back in the 60s…he did a whole load of wonderful projects. Wish I had the pics from back then. Sure wish I'd known about this red one in time--I would have bought it, working or not. It would totally clash with my '63 unit (which is turquoise)...

On the topic of 60s Frigidaire Refrigerators...

My goal is to have one of each Imperial bottom mount: a 1961, 1964 and a 1966. Currently, I have a line on a '62 locally…not sure if it will happen. I've got my dream unit--which is a '63. Hoping against hope that at LEAST a 1966 unit will turn up (I would forego all the other missing years just to get a '66). I haven't seen one in person in decades…anyone up here know of one? Rather not have a faux woodgrain model, but absolutely wouldn't turn it down…

When I got back into the forum this week, I came across this 1965 someone was trying to get rid of. Anyone know what became of it? I can no longer find the thread…but did save a pic!
