Well, our 10 year-old Electrolux Wave Touch washer succumbed to the common front-load seal and bearing failure, just like our Frigidaire FL before it. (Only the bearing on the Frigidaire only lasted 4 years)
We opted for an LG Top-loader and matching dryer with the front controls. As my husband and I are getting on in years, the new set will be easier for us to move around for cleaning. The hot water is indeed dumbed down, but the trade-off is that the machine will let you fill it with water, as long as you don't mind the water being cold.
It shares long cycle times with the front-loader it replaced. The old washer had long cycle times mostly due to the balancing algorithms. The new LG top-load would be speedier if the cycles weren't festooned with seemingly unnecessary pauses. So far, though, we like this set.
Congratulations on your purchase!!! Nothing like buying, or getting, a machine that you really like and turns out clean clothes. Would love to see a picture of it if you would be inclined to do so. How hot is the hot water? How long are cycle times on normal? Hope you have many years of trouble-free good use out of it. Keep us updated!
