Didn't someone post about laundry appliances traveling beyond their country of origin with US military personnel, as well? |

Not to criticize the posting...not at all..but I've seen a couple really beautiful looking twin tubs that far exceed the appearance of this one. I guess it comes down to what you prefer. Those that have nicer overall appearance and features...the sellers want a king's ransom for their great condition units. Anyways, it comes down to what you guys like out there and it seems twin-tubs aren't the center of attention around here. I stopped posting those Hoover twin tubs - they're cool, but even you, Lauderess, pointed out their limitations and modest appeal.
Well - twin tubs definitely look and sound cool, but this one reminds me of those Geritol ads - tired blood? It could use some TLC on the outside...even if ...that might be ok as is for someone. Boo -KAY, not Bucket. |

The machine for sale looks much like this machine on oldewash.com.
oldewash.com/cf/detail_report.cfm... That would mean that it's from around 1935. |

Well they wouldn't exactly be, would they? I mean if one recalls correctly the group was founded around *automatic* laundry appliances, something twin tubs, wringers and other semi-automatic machines most certainly are not.
This being said yes, do find Hoovermatic units almost next to useless, especially for effort involved along with noise, but that is not a blanket indictment against all twin tub units. Easy along with others that mated a wash tub with either a central beater, H-axis tub, or anything else besides an impeller are not all bad. Indeed they are able to plow through far more washing per hour with less bother than a Hoover IMHO, and probably giving better results. |

I love to hear about the virtues of different washers and each owner can certainly bring mastery to getting the most of each machine. Someone apparently bought those Hoovers...were they gluttens for extra work? And speaking of "not a blanket indictment against all twin tub units", those don't appear to be the go-to choice for doing blankets, comforter, etc...but the Twins look like they would handle it.
I like the Twin-Tubs, myself...and never used it, or any of the other interesting vintage stuff from my childhood years and beyond. I like the old washers, too - with the rollers, as my mom had. I hope my comment about not posting Twin Tubs isn't a signal that they're of little value...was not making any hints of any sort that was the message. I just see better examples of Twin-Tubs and whether that matters or not, that's ok - this might be a beauty in some one's eyes and forgive me for possibly imposing a visual standard on this appliance. Plenty are returned to new condition. But it does seem, more would enjoy a better example for a twin tub..that was just my expression. You guys out there into Twin-Tubs...keep on washin'. Launderess might bring, as with other postings, your dream Twin-Tub come true. Adieu |
