Has anyone had any actual experience with this brand and model of percolator? I've never heard of a Society percolator. I wonder if all Society percolators make this sound or just this model? I would buy one just for this sound. When I heard it I started laughing immediately. There are other designs I like better, but I can always buy another one for looks. What designs do you all like.

Sounds a little like my mom's old West Bend 30-cupper.  Strange that such a refined looking percolator with a name like "Society" would make such a gutteral racket.

If you really want to hear an oddball percolator, listen to a Jet-O-Matic sometime!

The Society one sounds like it's moaning. I think that's what made me laugh. I'll check out the Jet-O-Matic. Anyone else on funny sounds and good designs?

I can't find any You tube videos of the Jet-O-Matic in action.

Jet O Matics make terrible coffee, but sound like like a flatulent  old fart with a tight sphincter. They shoot a blend of steam and water through the tube and it is apparently too cool to properly extract flavor from the grounds. Jet O Matics were made in Mississippi and were sold under a number of names, like a cheap whore, three of which are Duncan Hines (from when he had a rep as a restaurant critic and would sell his name like another cheap whore to be put on anything from cookware to restaurants), Saladmaster and Amway, a name on which we do not need to elaborate, but it is fitting for a coffee pot that does not brew good coffee and wastes perfectly good ground coffee. I think the Saladmaster brewer was mostly given away with exorbitantly priced sets of cookware.

I swear I've seen a video of a Jet-O-Matic in action, but couldn't find one either when I just checked.

Jet-O-Matic

My Aunt Eloise and Uncle TW, who lived in Ocean Springs, MS had one of these. I don't drink coffee, so can't say how it turned out.

Hmmm I thought I'd made a video of my Jet O Matic years ago on youtube but apparently not.  I never made coffee in it.. just tried it out to see if it worked, it did and made an interesting jet like sound but that was it.
