Combined it with MML going on in Saugatuck (see DL for more info on that). Had a great time visiting Mike and his beautiful home and amazing collection in Grand Rapids. Of course I brought laundry and used the Coppertone Kenmore pair and the Maytag stack unit. Thanks again for the great visit! This post was last edited 09/25/2017 at 18:38 |

Very nce collection Mike. Jerry glad you got to go and share with us. I keep forgetting our Kenmore 800 was the 2nd version of this basic style--Mike's being the 1st with Vari=Flex agitator and just Prewash. Ours with Super Rotoswirl, Enzyme Soak and Soak Only/Soak & Wash rocker switch option. The last version having the modified tempt/water level knobs. |

Yes I like the mix of new were an older machines, too bad there aren't more Maytag however, LOL
There are so many cool vintage washers out there, I'm laying out my ultimate home laundry room and will try to work on it this coming year when I stop traveling so much. One thing for sure with all the cool machines out there I'm not going to have more than one of any particular machine. John L |

It has been much fun to finally get to meet people from this site. The weekend was marvelous. Jerry and I had much to talk about on our 40 min. trip from Douglas/Saugatuck to Grand Rapids. We're both Pennsylvania boys! And What fun to have a companion to do laundry with!!! (Next time Yogitunes it will be a 3-some I promise). My collection is "Maytag-heavy" but I cherish my KitchenAid set (Thanks Martin for sending me the correct agitator). The coppertone Kenmore pair are gems. I love all my machines!. And I feel at home with my friends at automaticwasher.org.
(I added a pic of my Hardwick-built Maytag gas range and a close-up of the A806S buttons. One of the sets of buttons is not original. I know the Maytag experts will know which one). |

I am going to say the cold/warm/hot buttons are not original, as 'wash' is missing...
but I also thought all 806's were the same....you don't have the flexibility on this one for separate wash/spin speeds options... interesting as well through the years at how they flip the buttons around....mine seems odd as the temps are to the right of the timer... and then the swap out of water level designations.....small, medium, normal, large had to replace the pump on mine, a normal change out for most models, and something you wouldn't pay attention to, until you have to drill out the port for the bleach dispenser.... |

I'll keep my '84 511 Fabric Matic. Has the original everything but the one repair for a motor pulley, which was the original time I found this site and so many members knew just what the problem was and it still works like it just came out of the box new. Water level always on EX high, temp on Hot as hot goes cold so I get warm, regular fabric wash and everything comes out fine.

Hi Hippiedoll,
The A806S was introduced in 1966. Mine was manufactured in 1968. There was no official Permanent Press cycle on Maytag until 1969. However the "Permanent Press" button gave you Regular agitation with Gentle spin. In 1966 that button was labeled "Wash'n'Wear" So in essence it was a "3-speed select" with "Regular /Fast" "Gentle/Slow" and "Regular/Slow" Yogitunes: The "Cold" Warm" Hot" "Cold Rinse" "Warm Rinse" was original. The original 806 had 3 water levels "Small "Normal" "Large". Someone replaced the water level switch before I bought the machine. Doug: The small Neptune in the pic is a piggy bank. The door is just for looks. |
