There's a stainless-steel dishwasher that some inconsiderate soul tossed on the side of the road into a neighbour's woods down in Ogden. I also think I saw what was left of a 90s double-oven wall oven in a trash can here in St-Liboire.
As for me, there is the corpse of a Frigidaire 1-18 sitting on the lawn of our house in Ogden.... Would you believe I can't find a scrapper who will come and pick it up?? |

I got rid of the Miele frontloader and the AEG dryer today. I have to downsize due to a move in the near future. I still have the Siemens frontloader and the Miele condenser dryer. I also still have the small AEG toploader and the LG Turbodrum. I can take these machines with me to the new apartment, still thinking about getting rid of one more.

Actually, yes I can. Before the scrap metal market took a dive, I could set out literally anything made of metal and resembling scrap out on my driveway and the scrapers would help themselves within a day. A few years later it took a CL ad to get a scrapper to come, now I have to haul everything myself to the scrap yard. Not that I wanted anything for the scrap but the yard was explicit in that they'd be happy to take the metal but they wouldn't pay me for it.

2-3 years ago I could put metal on the curb and it would often be gone in a few hours, if not by time I got home. Then it took an ad on Craigslist to make it go away, but now... nothing. Earlier this year I put a machine out on the curb 3 days before "trash day" and left it out a couple days after, no one ever picked it up.
I've not tried hauling anything to a dump and don't plan to.... but I've got to get rid of this excess metal somehow. Maybe I'll put it out when they do the next special "bulky items pick up".

When you want to get rid of the pink Maytag, the a50, the "hoovah" and whatever gas dryer that works, please let me know. I can't spend a dime now, but I can make some effort to haul them and save your precious space. Btw, soon I'll want you to visit me to see the new prototype (full size top load with agitator) bring your laundry! |

I am humored by scrappers, I don't think they are really good at math at times.
In our area steel scrap is worth about a penny a pound. Some years ago when we got a new lathe it came on a welded up steel skid made of structural channel. It was about 8' x 14' and weighted about 250lbs. We wanted it gone so I posted on CL and in minutes there were a couple guys there with trailers fighting over it. $2.50 doesn't buy enough gas to even come get it... Glad it was gone though! |

Two weeks ago, our neighbors put out a Samsung FL pair that I'm pretty sure was only about three years old. Haven't had a chance to talk to them, so I don't know the story. Someone grabbed the dryer, but the washer sat until the city picked it up. |
