Looking for some help please.
My friend is looking to buy a top load washer with the wash plate, is there one she should avoid or recommended that works better than others?
I'm also looking to but a new fridge & stove, not necessarily high end, something middle of the road, is there any particular brand to avoid?
Thank you in advance for your help.

All brands offer

medium priced models, with exception of Viking, Miele, Jenn Air, Kitchen Aid, Wolf, Sub Zero, and Gaggenau.
Lowes has package suites at discounts. Even LG.

If I were buying, I'd consider a Wirlpool thin door side by side fridge, or one of their top freezer models. Most have an ice maker, and the SxS's have chilled water also, for under a grand $USD. Size is around 20 to 22 cubic ft.
In a range, for electric, you can have glass, self clean/quick clean for about $550 USD. About the same for a gas model
Colors range from White, Buisque, black, silver, stainless. Higher end colors are graphite, black stainless, monochromatic white.
GE has an Artisan series with round analog clock, and horizontal fridge handles for a retro mid century look. Oven is manual scrub clean.

A 4 cubic ft.

Whirlpool washer is about $500 USD. Large enough to hold a queen size comforter.

Which wash-plate top-loaders to avoid?

ALL OF THEM!

They're ALL useless! Couldn't wash a dusty dishcloth. Huge drums but no point trying to load 'em up because they can't move the load around.

Seriously, if you can't get a traditional agitator top-loader like the new commercial-type Maytag, just go for a front-loader like the rest of the world.
