Whent to make a video and couldn't find the lid switch where is it? Chad

The lid switch assy is under the console on the left side. There are 2 screws in the rear endcaps facing the back. Loosen those, then grasp the endcaps at the back and pull forward, then swing the console up out of the way. You will see a grey rectangular switch on the left near the cabinet clip. Not sure if it snaps out of it's mounting, or you might have to remove the cabinet to get to the underside of the switch. I think the arm of the lid hinge hits the switch when you close the lid. UL required all top loaders not to agitate with the lid up as of July 2005.

Too bad it isn't magnetic, like the lid switch on many GE's. Then all you need is a magnet placed over the (not visible) lid switch. I carry my magnet whenever I go to my sister's. She thinks its hilarious that I have a magnet at-the-ready to watch her washer. Of course, she's used to me, LOL.

Oh, and about that magnet. DON'T let it get near credit cards, iPods or compter hard drives.

I carry a magnet too. Those Kenmore's are some of the best made in that price range. You never can go wrong with this set.
