I posted earlier this week about purchasing a Maytag washer and obtained it today. Not much cleanup work to be done besides the lint filter and agitator shaft from the filter not being cleaned. I have included the model and serial numbers in this post. Was wondering if someone out there could give me the age of this machine? Is this a good machine, etc.?

Model # A482
Serial #240586 (TN)

Thanks in advance for the information.

Just thought I'd bump this back to the top since this should be a simple question for somebody out there to answer for you, Bryan.

Looks like July 1987. Almost time to bake a cake!

From the serial # (TN)

T = 1987
N = July

WOW....

Thanks wiskybill for the information...20 years old and it runs smoothly for the most part. The only thing I have noticed is a 1-2 second squeal when it starts agitation or when the lid is raised and closed during washing or rinsing but after that nothing. I absolutely love this machine and its gentle wash action compared to my one year old Whirlpool Gold DD machine. Again thanks...Gadget Gary..I will work on pics sometime soon.

Bryan, so this is one of the "newer" style with brown control panel and timer knob on the right?

Yes it is...4 water levels and three temps..all push button style and the 3 basic cycles...Regular, Perm. Press with Knits on the 4 minute mark and Delicate. I believe this is a one speed machine....the Delicate cycle is "pulse"..agitate then soak, etc.
