I seem to recall (many years ago) that Sears sold some type of twin-tub portable washer. Am I correct, or is age catching up with me? I also recall (for one year only), Sears had a small front-loader (1984 I think) ... anyone else recall that? Thanks for the info. Todd

You know I vaguely recall seeing a twintub of some kind in a catalog, but I can't say for sure if it was Sears. If so, it was probably a Sanyo or something of that ilk, which are actually fun/cute little machines.

I'm pretty sure PeterH770 has or had one of the frontloaders you're talking about, and I believe it was of Italian origin. If he sees this, maybe he'll pipe in.

Sears....

 I believe another member from DC has a Sears catalog collection. He may be of some help also.

Kenmore twin tub

 Yes Sears did have a Kenmore twin tub. My sister bought one in 1972 to use in her apartment. Had the fill hose that attached to the kitchen faucet and a drain hose. It was not auto rinse in the spinner like the Hoover twin tubs. Had a blue cover and one big propeller on the side. Had two speeds delicate and normal for the wash.

I remember that

 I believe it was from Japan or Korea. They called it a laundry cart or something with the word cart in it and I seem to remember that there was some kind of plastic basket hanging on one end, maybe(?). It was quite a departure from the usual fare at Sears because it was brightly colored plastic, blue, I think and a non-automatic that was not a wringer washer or that little Proctor Silex machine, that was actually a wringer also. It was like in the 1980s when that little Italian front loader showed up among all of the big top loaders, but at least it was made of steel. I don't remember either machine being on the sales floor for more than a year or two.
