TV Land seems to be showing a lot of Green Acres episodes. Never seen it in color before (and I'm watching on a Zenith roundie--woo hoo!) and I'm in love with her pink appliances. Anyone know who made them? I can't tell if they're all by the same manufacturer or not. I know Lincoln provided the cars on the show, so I'm guessing Philco, but not sure. |

Hi Veg-o-matic, welcome to the club, I recognize your screen name from Audio Karma. I've been watching the 1st season on DVD of Green Acres (on my '59 RCA roundie) and they seem to be going through some appliance changes between different episodes, but the machine that stands out the most is Lisa pink Maytag Combo Washer & Dryer! I haven't got a good enough look at some of the other appliances to tell what they are. But I sure do know a Maytag Combo. I'll see if I can get a good shot of the Combo sometime. |

Hi, There is one episode in particular where Oliver has rigged a old gasoline generator to the house with various plug circuits. He drew up a poster next to it I believe that rated each of her "modern appliances" on a 1 thru 10 rating. Thru the episode, she is constantly forgetting to add the numerals together nad is forever blowing out the generator. This generator in fact reminded me of an old Maytag Multi-Motor that was refasioned with a generating device. Let's just say whatever motor it was...it was SO very old.... In that smae episode I believe, she had an early 60's Kirby upright as their vacuum cleaner. And If Im not mistaken there was another Washer and dryer besides the Maytag combo looking at the stove ( where she made hotscakes), if you were able to look to your far right...there they resided. I guess Im going to have to find my DVD of it and look again.... Chad P.S. It's amazing how dumb they portrayed her( Mrs. Douglas) in the series. That must have really torqued off the new age bra burners who hated being seen as the mentally inferior race. I can almost guarentee that if that show aired today, Roseanne would lampoon it and womens activist groups all over would ban the show until it was cancelled. |

Mommie Dearest had two combos, almost the best part of the movie! When I was looking for my first house some years ago, in the basement of one house was a Lady Kenmore combo washer and a GE dryer. In the kitchen was a portable Waste King dishwasher. I should have bought that house! I saw a 60's Thermador built in dishwasher yesterday at a sale - had the small, square tubes and offset arm lengths. Mint condition as well, too cool! |

Mia Farrow used a coin-op Frigidaire washer in Rosemary's Baby. Pay attention and you can see the round window when she lifts the lid to add softener. |

I remember that episode, and once saw an interview where June Lockhart was interviewed talked about that particular episode. |

Isn't it a square-tub Maytag? I'll have to look again. I reember the shaky washer scene where she was singing... "Have I told you lately that I " (washer stops, KICK!, washer starts) "... that I love you..." |

I remember this machine as a round wooden barrel with gnashing aluminum rollers. |
