The UPS guy dropped off the little Kenmore dryer I won on Ebay last week (Sorry, no camara). It is a perfect size for my first restore job! The door (which drops down) needs a little plastic clip (kind of like a short fat crochet hook) that engages into a hole to hold the door closed. The original is there, but the "hook" end has broken off. I know...real long shot. The model # is: 135.73531 I looked it up on Sears parts list and it says no parts exist for the dryer (not surprized). Any help or ideas truly appreciated! Guy | ||

Different systems
The Whirlmore series uses various door holding systems, depending on the year. Some are interchangeable, so if you can't find this one, you may be able to use another. I was able to use a strip of heavy duty Velcro to hold my mom's closed for nearly a year, until I found the snap. Have you tried www.applianceparts.comQUESTIONMAR... They are infinitely better than Sears. Speaking of which, their online or telephone answer is always that the part doesn't exist. Usually, they can't find the machine, either. In person, I have often been helped. A big difference: Sears in Cheyenne, Wyoming is pretty helpful. Sears in Fort Collins, Colorado - right next door, has denied the existence even of water filters for 2007 refrigerators...even tho' they were hanging on the peg board behind the repair service in-duh-vi-dual's back... Have you tried Sears' website www3.sears.com? It shows that item as a household lamp with no serviceable parts. Is that the entire model number? I don't know who supplied Sears' early dryers, but if it was whirlpool, the model should start with 110-something. The hook you're describing sounds similar to door catches that were used for a LONG time, and may still be available. Whirlpool is great about keeping old parts alive as long as there is demand for them. Good luck! | ||

Thanks guys! I rechecked the model #, and that is what is on the back. I really doubt that whirlpool had anything to do with this dryer. Someone in a previous thread thead suggested it might have been made by Proctor Silex? Anyways...I have included the Ebay auction pics to give you an idea of the appearance of the dryer. Sometimes it is best to contact Sears parts directly instead of using the website. When I purchased my vintage Whirlpool compact dryer last year, duly looked up parts on Sear's website to find nothing listed. However when I contacted Sears Parts directly by telephone, after giving my model number the nice tech guy gave me a generous list of parts still available. Mind you, being Sears the parts were not cheap, but they had them. Good luck with your new baby! L. | ||
