Look how beautiful the 1953 Hotpoint came out! I sweated a new copper line and ran a drain line to that side of the kitchen so there could be permanent water and drain connections over here. All connections are completely hidden under the dishwasher. The KitchenAid 14 Portable used to sit here, but once I installed the KD-12 "Pimp my Dishwasher" DW, I never used the 14 anymore. No need for two similar dishwashers in the kitchen, variety is the spice of life.

Great collection of classic US dishwashers there Robert! They look great, but its the Hotpoint that does it for me. What a great looking machine. Paul |

But there are 2 french toast plates......Inquiring minds want to know! You don't usually let them stay for breakfast. HEY, ***hands on hips***, that's the pizza plate from the night before! I've never seen red French Toast before. hmmmph. How long is the cycle, Robert? Eugene the cycle is 50:15 total. It goes like this: SPRAY/DRAIN - 0:45 DRAIN - 0:45 FILL - 0:45 WASH 4:15 DRAIN - 0:45 FILL - 0:45 WASH 4:15 DRAIN - 0:45 FILL - 0:45 RINSE 0:45 DRAIN - 0:45 FILL - 0:45 RINSE 0:45 DRAIN - 0:45 DRY HEAT AND FAN 14:15 DRY HEAT ONLY 9:00 *The impeller runs during FILL so a :45 second rinse is more like a 1:15 minute rinse as the machine fills fast. |

Wow, Robert, that looks like a machine I have seen only in ads! The light-up Hotpoint dial just takes the cake! The full-size reversible upper rack is also quite something - it must be a lot of fun to use! It looks like it did a fine job cleaning, too - I am quite the fan (pun intended) of the impeller dishwashers!! Is this model the gravity-drain one or does it have a pump?? |

I hope that in 2011 when I come for a conference in your fair city I can come see your collections. Of course, if the house is clean :-D uhm, lovely palate of pastels, but where is the seafoam green? And dont give me that cra*p that is has to be an appliance color, ok? Sea - Foam would clash with the Turquoise, I like Sea-Foam but not as much as I like Turquoise, its my favorite color. Hey I see what looks like a 10-cup Farberware rice-cooker, the very kind I donated to Goodwill because I burned the rice ever time. What's your secret? Burned rice is delicious. :) All houses here have natural gas here. Behind the range is a 220 volt line as well as a gas line, both were installed there long before I moved in. But I wouldn't be caught dead cooking on a gas stove. I find baking is so much better out of an electric oven and the only thing I found that cooking on gas cooktop that works better is when you are cooking milk. But I use a Pyrex star grate under the pot and it simulates the results of cooking milk on a gas cooktop. Give me a GE or Hotpoint 40" range any day over anything so smelly as gas. |

Robert: If you're looking for a top for the Hotpoint, may I suggest a white polypropylene cutting surface? You've seen the white poly cutting boards in kitchenwares shops, I'm sure. Poly board comes in custom sizes if you go to a restaurant supply house, which Minneapolis has to have several of. If you'll get a 1-inch thickness, you'll have a very sanitary cutting surface that is kind to knives, and it can be washed in a DW, providing one of your arsenal of machines is big enough. Poly board is great stuff. P.S.: Depending on the restaurant supply house, a moat and well can be routed into the edge of the board after it's cut. Some places can do this, some can't. It's a very useful feature if you're cutting meat. |
