With all the complaints about DD's recently, I thought I'd show this Kenmore 70 series. It has everything you need, water level, temps, and a three speed motor. For this small load, I used Slow agitation fast spin. My camera's flash wasn't working so the pictures are different.

Even on the regular cycle, this machine only does one spray rinse, after the deep rinse

My old washer was the smae one but had a white basket, softener dispenser, 4 position water level control, Permanent Press II and a "Handwash Plus Fine Delicates" speed setting.

Anyone know the difference between PP 1 and 2?

Funguy - this machine has a fabric softener dispenser, just didn't use it.

i think the difference was it doesnt do that partial drain and refill after the wash they all used to our PP cycle has a 10 min max wash time very short spins longer spray rinses. thats it no pauses no soak not anymore of that :( i remember when they used to do that

Shredmore

The Shredmore I had when I bought this house was similar to that one (same series and vintage anyway) and that's where my severe hatred for these DD machines comes from. Not just because it was so abusive to my clothing, but because apparently mine was a lemon. For such a simple machine, mine had too much wrong with it.

Mine had a listing tub problem (always leaned to the rear.....nothing was messed up in the suspension either!), had a worn spin clutch although the machine was only 6 years old at the time, but the thing that was the final straw was when the transmission housing CRACKED! Yes! IT CRACKED!!! Had big "Made in China" stamped on top of it. Just for giggles, when it broke I opened it up (no worries about oil....it was all on my floor in the wash room anyway!) and was shocked and horrified to find PLASTIC GEARS in the transmission!

Off to the crusher it went.......I have NOT looked back....

I just got one of these a few days ago, except it is a 90 series with the same style of console except that it is black with a 3 speed motor.

Had a Whirlpool DD that I bought in 1990 that lasted 16 years. The only thing I ever had to do to it was replace the ratchet mechanism in the agitator that turns the corkscrew. When we got rid of it, the drive coupler was making noise, but it was still running. However, my wife never liked it because it tangled clothes so badly. We ditched it for a Harmony.
