Savings ... E'lux is is cutting local brands/badges

Just the same happened on the other side of the Channel : if you check arthurmartin.fr there is E'lux France.

4 the same reason they started double-branding : AEG-Electrolux, Zanussi-Electrolux, REX-Electrolux. I bet by ten yrs we'll have Electrolux only

This also happened in the 90ies when Whirlpool bought Philips whitegoods : first Philips-Whirlpool, then Whirlpool only (and a quality drop-down...)

It is also a parts matter. In the past an AEG dishwasher or washer was totally different from a Zanussi one.
I.E Zannies DW had a big round filter (also similar to US Frigidaires). Now they have the square, "AEG style" filter.

Elux seem to keep in life those brands who have a local strong tradition (i.e. Zanker.de , Zoppas.it , Frigidaire in the US) while other brands disappeared (i.e. here CASTOR and TRIPLEX)

Electrolux are definately brand 'reducers'

They currently own the following brands in Australia that have recently manufactured...

Chef
Simpson
Westinghouse
Hoover....

Hoover went several years ago.

Westinghouse no longer have washing machines/dryers.

Chef have a reduced range of ovens, hotplates, upright stoves etc yet have a fantastic reputation and their ovens, along with Simpson and Westinghouse are as good or better at cooking the many Bosch, AEG and Miele.

Simpson have a full range and are now the 'value brand'.

The Electrolux brand has been positioned in the mid-top end in our domestic appliance market now where once Westinghouse held that mantle for locally made product...

Just as a side note, they also own 'Pope' which merged with Simpson in the 1960's and 'Malleys-Whirlpool' in addition to Hoover Australia.

On a side note to Electrolux, our Maytag badged European front loaders were Hoovers but are now the Baukneckt version of Whirlpool....

So much for variety...
