Bit more good luck saw us with another new machine to add to the collection today. Only needed a wash down to remove some grime of the years. Not sure of its date, Which? magazine machine testing dates similar models around 1980-84. Clone of the Colston it is the Ariston 950XD. 800rpm Washer Dryer So quiet to wash and spin, runs like a dream on the whole except for a few squeaks from the belt occasionally. Any questions fire away and we will try to answer them. Heres the pics! |

Ronhic, The modern ones are just as bad over here. Where do you start with anything from the house of Indesit? Toggles, This version only has 3 compartments in the dispenser for Prewash, Main wash and softener, Did your Aunts have 4 compartments or was prewash replaced with a bleach dispenser? The programming dial must of been linked to the powder drawer differently so the bleach washed into he first rinse I assume? Robliverpool yes it does do a fab wash. Quite energetic and nice short cycles. The wash heater also gives quite a roar and got the water heated unbelievably quickly. YOu guys are right about the dryer venting arrangement with the lint filteralthough thankfully the lady who owned this seems to have not used the dryer as the lint filter and vent pipes were totally lint free and very very clean. The dryer does seem to be a little on the slow side. THe machine does have one fault in that you can open the door anytime you wish in the cycle, it should actually lock but we are not too bothered about it. May get it fixed if the need arises but it did mean we could see how strong the fan was blowing and how quick it got hot. Warmed up superbly but the airflow only hits what is passing the dryer opening at the precise point, and its not that strong compared to other washer dryers especially the Hotpoints of the 80's. Gary yes those are the lowering levers. A very nice touch and they actually work, Made our life a hell of a lot easier. Another bit of chrome to keep polished though lol. Rob |
