I came across an ad in some local on-line classifieds for a Maytag dryer in pink and I finally got a chance to go see it last night. It's kinda interesting, but I don't think it's for me. If it had been a set, well, I'd probably be posting a thread about how hubby finally threw me out... lol Seriously, though, if anyone might be interested in this dryer, let me know. Overall, it was in decent shape - cabinet good but with some paint marks on one side. The vent port was on the right side of the cabinet instead of the back. Drum looked great and turned freely (I think the belt was a bit stiff). The current owner said it was working perfectly but has been unable to use it since she moved to her current home. I can understand that because the machine is really wide (30 inches!); I know I couldn't fit it in our laundry alcove in Montreal - much to hubby's delight... I asked the owner if the console lit up and she said she didn't think so. A couple of questions, just for my own curiosity: - What year would this model have been made? - On the control panel, there are two small, round pushbuttons (one red, one black) - was that for the console light? If not, what are they for? - What would be a fair price for a machine like this?? The owner said the price was to be discussed (That usually means that they expect thousands....) I have photos if anyone is interested but they are too big to post and I don't have a lot of time to play with them unfortunatley! |

Wow, Rick, that was a deal! I haven't found any single appliance under $300 here in Canada, well ever!! My concern is finding the matching washer - I've never seen anything like that locally and well, I think I spent more on freight charges in the last couple of years than most people spend on their entire collection! lol I am suspicious that the seller is going to want a lot - she had a number of used CD's for sale also at $10 (they weren't exactly selling)... Oh, and the control panel has the same three pushbuttons on the right hand side - Air Fluff, Wash and Wear, and Regular. I figured out that was the heat selection all by myself! lol How very odd that the dryer was wider than the washer... Thought only GE did that!! |

Alot of brand if not all (I think)had 24" washers and 27" dryers. Im unsure wich ones had 30" models. Im thinking Philco,GE,and Bendix had 30" washer/dryer combos. I could be wrong tho lol. Kenny |
