I got a "new to me" Dependable Care tonight Model LAT8026AAE Ser# 11052354QS. I also got the electic matching dryer but I have gas hookups. It's pretty basic, agitator is labeled Quad. h/c w/c c/c , no bleach dispenser The 2 cycles are Regular/knits, and PP,easy care, and a soak prior to reg. I would say 3 cycles but maytag has it listed as 7 on the console. Hope this makes sense it was raining when we left to get them after the "phone call", and we spotted a double rainbow at sunset when we arrived at the sellers house. anyway i will post pic's when i find the disappearing cord for the camera. its still on CL #1221637299 if someone could flip me a link ( i have to learn to do that). Im excited. this must be the basic model no bleach dispenser ( I never use it anyway).. Finding something you want is pretty invigorating isn't it? I now see why you all go to the ends of the earth. Now the Frigidaire indexing T/L and dryer have company :-)

Does it have a dual action agitator?

Yes, Jamie dual action with a "quad" embossed, is that quadraflex?

Then that is the exact same washer my baby-sitter replaced her old center Dial Maytag with! I'm not sure what the "quad" means...

Ya, it was pretty good, the agitator is kinda boring IMO, but it cleaned pretty well, I never forgave it for not being the old center dial Maytag though... lol

Aside from my preference for shredmores as a modern daily driver, I am starting to get the impression that the Dependable Care Maytags like the one on this thread are getting to be somewhat collectible. Would this be correct?

I have a DC set too, just a little older, with the flat control panel, and every bell and whistle, came with the 12 straight vane agitator, which didn't move anything, replaced it with a "load sensor" one, now theres some action, I don't know what a "quad" actually is, would have to see one, mine is also a orbital drive, I rather have an Atlantis series with the slower longer stroke, someday!only paid $200 for th set, can't complain...you got a nice set none the less, I just like a lot of buttons, can't help it...

The agitator is labeled QUAD-Clean, it looks like a spiral corkscrew, Just like in my Frigidaire.
Norfolk Southern: I don't think the DC are considered collectible among our members, yet. I had searched the paper, CL for months. I do know they are scarce around here, but not having the talents of many i needed a plug n play machine.
Yogitunes, the seller knew i had no interest in the dryer, so i will just say that with cash in hand, things are negotiable:-)

We got the Dependable Care hooked up today, I had forgotten how nice it is to see a full tub of water heater temperature water. I had Kroger liquid on hand added the LCB at the beginning 1/2 cup. My whites were dazzling, Put the lid down and after adding kroger, & LCB for a quick mix a few swishes and a nice thin layer of suds had not seen that in a long time either. Seems like the dryer stopped sooner than usual, so I would say that Maytag removes more water than the frigidaire/electrolux.

I have a DC too, put drain hose in a bucket and spin it one more time, see how much more water you get out, with towels I get alot, about 3 or 4 cups, that's a lot for a dryer to evaporate, only use this set in emergencies, and then I set it for 2 spins...

Yogi you were right, i did the "extra spin" i did not measure but i heard "water splashing" in the drain. arthur
