I already posted this message in the deluxe message board but since this model was purchased in 1986, I'm not sure if it falls under the catagory of imperial or deluxe.
Anyway, I'm looking for a part for my Kitchen Aid dishwasher KD-21A series. The part is a screen that's been discontinued see pic. The dishwasher has been working great before the screen became torn.
If I'm unsuccessful in obtaining this part, any suggestions on a new/replacement dishwasher?

i have a kd-21

in my collection but unfortunately no extra parts. you could try matt on the site here, everythingold is his screen name.

i personally would not get rid of that dishwasher just because that screen is torn. it will clean better than anything you will find today, with or without that screen!

keep an eye out on e bay, or try some of the parts places on the web like part select or repair clinic.

as far as a replacement i would not be a good one to tell you what to get as i don't like any dishwasher at all built today! if i was replacing it i would go with another kitchenaid, a hobart made kitchenaid and i would stick with the 17 series but that's just me! a lot of guys here will differ on that one, most of em like the 18-20 models due that they have the upper spray arm.

good luck with it

Back to start!

I responded to your post in the other category. Check back there. Ad Yes while I love the 15-17 series machines for their tank like qualities, The 18 and up series really DO a better job than the earlier ones. Okay, you may have to just polish off a speck or two of rust on that trailer hitch after using the newer machine!

I just finished searching the net for the part you need. It is NLA at every single parts website I checked. I ordered one for my 21 series KichenAid back in 2006 and they were still available then. The part number you need is 4163370. Maybe someone here knows of a source that has old stock but doesn't advertise on the web. (Larry at Modern Parts, everythingold, etc.)

Woops, just read Stevet's post in Deluxe but I'll post anyway in case an Imperial reader can help you. Good Luck
