It looks like Maytag wasn't the first that made a dishwasher with three full racks. The German picture of the day shows a beautiful three rack dishwasher from the seventies.

Luigi, that is such a cool looking rack system. I'm assuming the top rack had a full-size spray arm above the top rack. I also assume the top rack was only for plates or shallow soup bowl. But I must admit, this arrangement is far superior and resembles more to waht I was hoping the Maytag offering would be like than what reality is.

Another thing about the racking in this machine.....it looks very modern looking.If i didn't know this was from the seventies, i would think it was the latest dishwasher out.

Maybe it's just the angle of the shot, but the machine looks considerably taller than a 'standard' undecounter dishwasher.

2 doors

Hi guys,

To me it looks like that top rack is riding on a second door, and I aggree with Daddoes, it looks more like washing machine height than dishwasher height

Peter, it's not a Miele, it's a Candy. Candy made pretty spiffy appliances in those years. The dishwasher is indeed taller than normal dishwashers, I think it is even taller than American washers.

Hi,

the Candy dishwasher has the following measurements:
H = 117,5 cm
W = 60 cm
D = 60 cm

(cm = centimetres)

I hope that someone can convert them into your measurements.

Carlo from Italy has given some more information about the candy dishwashers of those days in the forum.

That means that the width and depth are around 23 1/2 inches and the height is somewhat over 46 inches.

You're welcome, but actually the credits should go to this Metric conversion website.

What a great Dishwasher!

Louis,
Thanks for pointing us in the direction of the Pic-Of-The day from the site.
What a great dishwasher! Did they discontinue this model? I think that it is such a great idea. Even if it was taller, it would be so worth it.
Do you know if it was good dishwasher? I wonder if they have any still cleaning away.
Brent

HI Brent, hi @ all,

Candy does not produce this dishwasher anymore, I think they stopped producing it in the 70s as the selling of built-in dishwasher increased an so the height has to be 33,46 inches
(85 cm) to fit into the regular German built-in kitchens.

In the consumers report of the 70s Candy dishwasher were always not bad but of moderate quality.

Greetz
