Despite my doubts, I figured I had to at least try and move forward with the paint job for the Westy cabinet. Thanks to all the good advice I got, I tried again with a grey primer base and appliance expoy from Homo Depot. Well, even I couldn't believe what I did.... This is what the top cover looks like now! |

Here they are after sanding (to remove rust) and prior to priming. I also did something different the latest pieces - after sanding, I vacuumed each piece, then gave it a wipe down with a damp cloth. I am sure that helped with the final finish. So, anyone know where I can get turquoise spray appliance epoxy?? That GE clothes conditioner dryer of mine has been begging to be turquoise since I got it... lol |

Remember the hole I found when I took the washer apart? I plugged it up with JB Weld now and it holds water. YAY. The next step here is going to be to coat the inner tub with rust paint (I didn't mess around - I got the POR-15 that has been recommended here). Hopefully that will be next weekend... I can't wait to pick up the parts that I got from Modern at the Peoria Wash Party in August! I will then have to somehow figure out when to put the Westy back together - it looks like there is a trip to North-Central Ontario to pick up a certain Viking dishwasher soon... |
