Are the Maytag 806's supposed to index? Someone asked me awhile back if mine indexed and I said no. Today I noticed that it does index.

Brakes!

Your 806 might need some brakes, or at least an adjustment. They are not supposed to index.

It indexed, and then I shut if off to soak, turned it back and it didn't index.

Dave is right

Mine can be made to index when I set the washer to spin then stop the washer then set it to Suds return

The brake does not fully lock if I do this so on agitation it indexes

I used to have videos of it indexing on you tube

I will see if I can get one of mine to index and film it

It started to drain/spin, and I stopped it and reset the timer for another wash cycle. Maybe that caused it.

Yep, a quick change from spin to agitation will cause the tub to index everytime. Scared the hell out of me as a kid the first time I did it.....before I knew how to work on 'em.
