Call me cheap but I don't think $320 a piece for Miele Pedestals here in the USA are worth it. I built my own pedestal this weekend for about $200 in materials, and about a day and a half of labor. I built it out of 2x6's and 5/8" plywood. Every mating surface between boards and framing were given a generous squeeze of heavy duty liquid nails, and I used probably over 100 screws. I filled the cavity with blown in insulation so it would not have that hollow sound. The end product weighs about 200 pounds and you could literally park a semi on it. I've just got to finish sanding the nail holes and then paint.

Is that pedestal safe ?

Sorry Andrew, I know you put a lot of work in it ... but can't resist : your pedestal, as it is raised on those trestles, actually looks like a white coffin for big kids *LOL*

Seriously talking, I have a concern about safety
Normally washers are bolted to pedestals : in case of vibrations the washer may fall down and cause harm to people and/or damage to things, so bolts are a safety device.
But if you put bolts in place of washer feet, you can't level the machine anymore

If you are concerned about the safety...

 Maybe you can raise the front and sides with a few inches so the machines are 'inside' the top of the pedestals. Any DIY overhere who build pedestals are even putted a concrete platform raide the sides a bit or tiled the sides a few inches above the top!

Safety

 :-) Don't worry, I already planned to strap the back legs of the washer to the back of the pedestal in the unlikely event it ever started to walk. I will probably use some of the same stuff you use to strap water heaters to the wall in earthquake prone cities. I'll just have to fold it in half so I can wrap it around the back feet and then bolt it to the back of the pedestal. If it ever did start to "walk", it would just rub against the wall. No chance it could fall off. :) I plan to finish and paint it tonight after work, depends on how Monday goes!

Dryer - Basement Status

 Thanks Malcolm - yea I finally got the dryer and it's sitting in where of all places, the family room downstairs along with everything else that was in the basement. I'm still using the LG dryer until I finish the basement - it's easier to move around and I don't want to risk damaging the T8003 or get it covered with drywall dust. The W3033 is actually sitting upstairs in the kitchen while the basement is being finished. I just slide it around on the wood floor with upside down area rugs, and connect it to the sink faucet when I do laundry on weekends.

Work had really consumed a lot of my energy to work on the basement since January but its slowing down finally. I'm about ready to lay porcelean floor tile I got on sale for a great price. Then I have to texture the walls and celing, paint trim and shelving. Had to refit the basement floor drain and float the floor so it was level around the drain, ready for tile.

I'll post a formal thread on the T8003 on the new pedestal with the W3033 once I get things in order this spring. You can see below that the basement currently is way too dirty and inhabitable for a Miele! :) Just slapped the first coat of paint on the pedestal tonight - I'm very happy with the way it turned out!

 Who is this prankster? ;-) Greg, I would have to put you inside the new coffin I built if you dare... I just pressure washed the garage floor after the hard winter we had. You could probably eat off of it!

Finished

 Here is a preview of what the Miele's will look like after they are installed on the new pedestal in the basement. I'm currently doing laundry with the Miele hooked to the kitchen sink on weekends, so I hauled the pedestal in the dining room to get a peek at what the 2 look like together. My measurements paid off - 1/2" clearance around all sides of the washer and dryer once they are both on the pedestal. The dryer is still down in the family room in it's packaging but I'll post pics of the finished project (if I ever get it done!)

The washer will go on the right side also, but I put it on the left for this photo.

When I saw the photo of the pedestal up on the horses, I immediately thought the same thing, looks like a coffin.

But it doesn't look that way on the floor with a washer on it.
Great job of building that unit!

BTW : I see a lot of "lift and drop action" not only *inside* the washer but expecially outside .... what's that ?!? The Miele Fitness ... hard weightlifting training system :)

Miele Weight

 LOL! I thought I was going to die when me and the old man carried this thing up out of the basement. I look forward to the day this summer when I get to put it in it's home for GOOD and never move the heavy bastard again :)

It's a back wrecker for sure, but I love it. The dryer is not nearly as heavy and I can manuver that by myself easily. Sliding it in from the garage still in it's crate was cake! Washer? Not so much.

nice box

 I made a pedestal for my first Miele out of large concrete blocks. I stuck them to the floor with silicone adhesive. I managed to find a great deal on the pedestals for the W1918 and the W1986 online. You are lucky your floor is so even that you can use that platform without any means of leveling it.
