I'm getting ready to run gas lines for three 1950's dryers. They are a 1951 (or maybe 1952) Bendix, 1958 Duomatic and 1960's Philco. My plumber has asked approximately how many BTU's would one of these dryers use. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks !!!!

I bet he wants to know so he can properly size up the pipe that will supply the gas to it. I am sure it would be no more than 40,000 btu's per hr. A nice 3/4" line would probably supply all the gas it would need unless it is at the end of a very long run from the meter. Distance and pipe size will determine the available volume to the device. There are sizing charts that will guide him and will ensure an adequate supply for the dryer.
The data plate on the dryer should spell out what the btu rating is for it. Then he can go from there.
