Checkrate/Likes sorry for my English I have a intermittent problem with my dishwasher in the last cycle (rinse and hold) the dishwasher stay with the valve (to release water) and the pump function for hours. The light is not turn on (heat water). the heater works well early in the cycle, the valve inlet and outlet water works. element and the ventilator to dry the dishes work. Can anyone tell me if this would be the thermostat or timer (I opened it and contact are not sparked) or something else ... because I really love my dishwasher with 6 children and I can not afford to buy another ... thank you very much. And if anyone has the manual I would like to have it!

Checkrate/Likes That is a very nice machine you have. Perhaps part of the timer mechanism has gone bad. There are KitchenAid dishwasher experts here who will be able to provide some advice, so keep checking for replies.

Checkrate/Likes *Info please!* Can you provide the model number of the machine or a picture of it? That way we can tell if it is a rapid advance timer or if it is a conventional timer. Sounds like the timer is stalling at the point where it should stop the cycle. If it is only the rinse and hold that is not working and all the other cycles work fine, then it is no big deal. Just rinse the dishes by turning on the full cycle and them hitting the cancel and drain button, if there is one, after the first fill and drain portion of the cycle.. If you don't have the cancel button that would tell us that you have a timer dial which you should be able to turn by hand to off. Your problem is either in the timer or the program switch, neither of which will be easy to find unless it is not that old a machine. So let us know and we can go from there.

Checkrate/Likes *no model* here is my serie number 99-559108 he stay on the rince and hold sometimes for 5-6 hour and sometimes he finish as a normal dishwasher. sometimes a open the door and wait 4-5 minutes and then a restart the cycle and i can listen water in the dishwasher. I will test if the 120 volts is on the motor in the timer (maybe the timer is too hard and the motor can't turn it at this point of the cycle( rinse and hold). No body have the manuel for this model???

Checkrate/Likes *Keep trying...* Nancy, the model number is what we need. The serial number is meaningless at this point. The model number will tell us how the machine is configured and built so we can get to the root of your problem. Also... do the other cycles all work okay? Do you have a "cancel/Drain" button on your machine and does it work if you press it?

Checkrate/Likes Nancy, the model number should be located at the left side of the frame of the tub. Here is what an older model label looks like (sorry about the crud, before I have it cleaned up): Thank you for doing your part for planet Earth to keep a good machine out of a landfill. Checkrate/Likes *model number* kitchenaid by hobart kdc-20c energy saver V I don't have a "cancel/Drain" button the problem is a the beginning the rinse and hold he wait something... the heavy wash work good. the rinse and hold don't turn and wait something. If i turn it manually we hear the motor turn and the valve for release water open and close but i never have water come in during the rinse and hold. But if i do a heavy wash the valve (water in) work good. And Even if i play with my float water level. the water don't come in the dishwasher only during rince and hold cycle. The element boil water correctly, the water level switch work correcly. I even try to close the soap trap and return at the rinse and hold but stay there without water for hours.

Checkrate/Likes *Time to make a switch!* Nancy,it sounds like you have a bad or worn out program switch. If, as you say, the other cycles work fine, I will assume that they go thru the complete cycle including the dry without any help from you touching the dial. That would mean that the timer is okay for the most part and that maybe when you press the rinse and hold button,there is a bad set of contacts in the switch so there is no connection made to make the machine work. Have you tried pressing the rinse and hold button and not touching the timer? It is designed so that if you do not turn the timer yourself to rinse and hold, but press the rinse and hold button, the timer will advance by itself slowly to the rinse and hold position on the dial and start working. The same goes for the heavy wash or Low energy cycles. In other words, you should be able to close the door, latch the handle and push a cycle button and the machine will eventually start working all by itself. If it does not advance the timer to rinse and hold when you press the button, then I would say that you have a bad program button and it should be repaired or replaced. I think I suggested in an earlier reply, that why not just advance the dial by hand to the rinse and hold position and press the heavy or low energy button and the energy saver dry button and just let the machine go from there since it is the same as the rinse and hold cycle. See what you can figure out and let us know Steve

Checkrate/Likes It could be a problem I encountered, if you are willing to take the control panel apart: One of the connections to the program switch may have become dislodged.
