Seasons Greetings

This very early Hitachi was advertised on gumtree for a song. Was suprised to find it in such great shape and in very good working order too.

BTW I remember a fellow SA member thread about very early indesit washer, I know of a place where there is such a machine and more and the owner would sell them to you for as little as R50 each. mail me should you be interested and we take it from there.

Louis, The aeg was a bunch of problems from the start (just in case you wondering why I havnt mailed you any pics)

Warm wishes to all for a happy new year!
Louis.

Early Indesit

Louis
My Aunt replaced her Indesit L5 with an Hitachi PS90P in 1982. The only difference to your machine was a woodgrain fascia. BTW, what is your eMail address?

Especially appreciate the first pic where the controls and trim look all bronze and lighted gold. Very nice.

Sad to hear that the AEG has problems. This one is cute though. It looks like the impeller is on an angle, is that correct? I love the control panel!

Hi Louis

mickeyd's profile picture
I didn't know. Thought it deliberate or an anomaly. Here's one of mine. No idea how or why, weak battery, camera gremlin, happens rarely, but I love it when it does.

Coming in a moment; have to switch servers.

Simply gorgeous

Heya L

The AEG was nothing but drama drama drama and so I gave the old tart away!

Just love that angled pulsator... pleased you noticed. Does that mean I'm weird?
I did something to the control panel that some may find very disturbing.

Weird for liking an angled pulsator? I don't think so, but it's as weird as you find it yourself. I never consider weird what I like.

So, what did you do to the control panel? BTW, I would love to see a detailed picture of the controls.

Thank You

Like Louis, I was intrigued by the angled impeller. Bottom mounts usually go round and round; side mounts tumble down. Wonder what this side-winder will do.
How cool. Eager to see the wild thing you did to the control panel. Have lightened up the bronze & gold Easy pic to showmore of the machine if you're interested.

Video anyone?

Today I attempt filming a clip (my first) of both my Hitachi Twin tubs for a better understanding of how they work. How and where does one upload such a clip? I do have a youtube account but have no clue about linking it (the clip) here.

If you put a video on Youtube there are some buttons under the video itself. I don't know how they are called in English (my account is set up in Dutch). The one you want is called "Delen" in Dutch, probably "Share" in English. You can post that link here in the window called URL link to share.

There is also a possibility of embedding the video here. The button right to the share button will show you a long link. You can copy that into the normal message frame, not in the URL link to share window. Then the video will be embedded in your message where you have placed it. You can put text above and under it.

Looking forward to that video!

Louis

That's a perfectly good video, thanks!
And a good machine, I like the automatic reversing agitation, cool.
Thank you--it's tons quieter than my Hoover twin tub, and of course it takes 2 hands to work the machine and clothes, and another one or two to work the camera!

Hi Louis, good machine, quite a wash action with the side mounted impeller, have always found that type of action more vigerous than the smaller middle base mounted ones!!!

The spin can seems large like the velo models, does this have just one drain pump and a valve control??

What spin speed would the spinner be??

Carry on the good work, more you do more the comfortable you`ll get with the filming!!!

cheers, Mike

Ah thanks guys,

I'm so excited that I have decided to share with you a secret machine, one that I know will blow your socks off for sure...

until then I shall leave you with this:

From a distance one could easily mistake it for a "Hoovermatic" with front controls.
look closer and one would see it is in fact a "Westpoint"
It has a wash tub and spin can but only uses one motor.

What a unique treat that was

mickeyd's profile picture
Side mounting seems to give the best of both worlds, up down, back forth, and around. That is the most versatile impeller I've seen with the most original water current patterns. At first, it looked as if you did not load up many items, but as you sluiced them over to the spinner, I see you had a nice size load in there.
And the second load--wow!--that was a monster, what we call a Bobload after our friend Appnut.

Kic, you really like washers, playing with the controls, switching them back and forth, moving the hose up and down, but real give away was rinsing out the tub with the impeller on. Sweet. Great fun! You're not alone.

Couldn't tell if the gentle speed was a shorter stroke or a slower one.

Can hardly wait to have my socks blown off, speaking of which, I see you're in flip-flops. What's the temp down there?

I love that Hitachi. It looks like it's very silent. It's a fun machine to play with. You were talking about two Hitachi's?

Would love to see your secret!
