As a day trip to LA while visiting friends in Palm Springs for the White Party, I spent an incredible afternoon at the Miele showroom while visiting Beverly Hills two weeks ago. I drug my husband and friend Patrick along with me, and while they were initially "what's the big deal about these appliances?", once they started looking at all of the fabulosity and speaking with the incredibly helpful associate, John Yanos, my husband left there with a new appreciation for the brand! Matter of fact, he pulled me across the floor to show me the 30" bottom freezer refrigerator that impressed the hell out of him.
My friend Patrick, who is not an appliance queen at all, stated lusting after the new LaPerla DW after he saw the self-closing feature and heard how quiet it was in operation! John opened the door to one of the european sized washers, and proceeded to pull out a custom sewn bath towel that was 40 feet in length to show the incredible capacity of those "smaller" machines. My husband turned to me and asked "Why have you been underloading ours?" I wanted to slap him, but I just smiled. John showed us cooking products, dishwashers, wine storage..I forgot to take photos I was so enthralled. Nothing had a price tag on it, because nothing there is for sale. It's a place to learn about the products, and then you go to your retailer, and they sell you the appliances. So, it looks like I'm getting my kitchen remodeled. It'll be a Miele kitchen. While it was one of the hilights of my day in LA, after spending a week at a friends' fabulous home in Palm Springs, we'd love to retire there! |

As a thank-you gift for the friend who let us stay with him, I purchased him a box of Miele DW tablets. The water in Palm Springs is incredibly hard, and he wasn't doing himself any favors using nasty Cascade gel with chlorine bleach. He was (yes, it pained me to see him do this) pre-rinsing the hell out of his dishes before loading them into his KA, and then putting about 1 tsp of liquid Cascade in the main wash cup. He told me that if he used more the DW would suds up too much.
I gave him the standard 10 minute lecture (gently) on the evils of pre-rinsing, made him promise to clean out his lime encrusted DW with CLR, and use 1/2 of a Miele tab with no pre-rinsing! 2 loads later, he thanked me profusely, and went online to buy rinse agent and another box of tabs. My good deed for the week! |

The next time you're here in the Desert you might want to visit Desert Vacuum & Appliance to get a quick "Miele fix." I'm sure it's not nearly as swanky as the Beverly Hills showroom but it's very nice and the guys are friendly & cool. Bring your fine lingerie and ask them to demonstrate the Miele rotary iron.
ps...here at "the home" they don't allow us to go to the White Party CLICK HERE TO GO TO twintubdexter's LINK ![]() |

Our independent Miele dealer (OK Sewing & Vacuum) is giving up - or having taken away - the Miele appliances and they are moving over to the monolith store, Nebraska Furniture Mart. It will be interesting to see what they do for a showroom display and pricing since that is said to be controlled pretty tightly by Miele.
It is fun to see the Miele line in person, they are quite impressive. |
