I did a google search on the history of washing machines. I found this on youtube. It looks like it was done in the late 70's or early 80's in the U.K. It's split into 3 parts and I'm watching them as I load them here. They look pretty informative so far and are quite interesting. I wasn't sure which forum to post them, so I figured the video itself looks vintage, I'd post them here. Enjoy!

Ok so video number 2 spends a lot of time talking about pressure switches and solenoids. Interesting to know how they work, but I was hoping for more washer talk.

I remember this from about 1988ish....on PBS.....I like the big guy...somewhat informative.....but as with anything, leaves you wanting more......

I also like the old rendition of on sailing ships, and how clothes were cleaned from the tumbling waves...like a FLer....and yet also the salt water was a beneficial aid in cleaning.......bleach is made from salt water.....
