Hello, just seen this video, and got really sad :(

I know Hoover and Methyr, and Candy with it have been, a very sensitive theme around here, but I really thought it was some kind of museum in that building, not this!

However world would be lucky if it only happened to Hoover... our country is full of places like that :(

The Main Building and European headquarters, thats the dishwasher factory they built in the 70`s , its seperate from the main building, further up the road...but alas its difficult to see any building once a "Hive of Worker Activity" a shadow of its former self!!

That's a shame, although I suppose there's little demand for that kind of very old-fashioned commercial manufacturing buildings or office space like that in a small town like Merthyr Tydfil.

It's a pity as it's quite a historic facility, but I doubt anyone would have a suitable business to occupy the space.

For new industries, or office space it would make more sense to build a modern facility than revamp that.

After watching that vid my thoughts are with the poor workers that have lost their job and the community that already suffer from high depression and unemployment. Makes me realise how lucky i am.

I do love going inside abandoned buildings though, i was looking to see if it had a Hoover thiefcheck burglar alarm!! does anyone remember those!?

....

I instantly thought of Hoover when I watched on the news that BMW was planning to keep jobs in the UK by establishing new plants. I'm all for buying imported goods, but we should have something here too! I only wish Hotpoint or Hoover or another brand decided to try this too, at least we'd have one guaranteed British produced machine. At least we've got Crosslee, I think they're still producing White Knight dryers here.

Proberbly they continue to make MINI here partly becouse its a successfull product and sell well all over the world.
is there a washing machine sales chart anywhere? Id think sales of hoover models is proberbly a lot lower down in the top ten then it was 20 odd years ago. I could be wrong though...
