Greetings all! Hans came down from NawKeylina so we all went to the warehouse to fool around ........ with a few washsers. We decided to pull one of the Kelvinators out and get it going. The water valve leaked, but no worry there, as I have some of those old Dole valves. The tub boot also leaked but I took one off of my other machines, and before you know it, we're Kelvinatin!!! Mark

Mark, beautiful. Part of the fun is getting Kelvinatin splashed, which I vowed I'd do at the convention and I did. LOL

That Kelvi is a beauty! Love the lighted control panel - very sleek and stylish. What other goodies do you currently have in that warehouse? Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

Great Kelvinator! Super-cala-splash-a-riffic, even! There's so much water action it looks like the suds almost take on the consistency of whipped cream.

With all that water whipping around, were there more rust issues with these machines, as compared to, say, a Maytag of the same era?

Post# 86839 , Reply# 15   10/3/2005 at 20:45 (6,779 days old) by lightedcontrols ()
....to answer some questions.....

The machine was delivered in June of 1964. One of the dispensers dispenses bleach, and the other fabric softner. They are both timed. I was VERY surprised to see they both worked after al these years. All of the interior steel parts were porcelained so rust really wasn't an issue. Gyrofoam, Gary has already told me that if I change out the house washer ONE MORE TIME that he is going to set ME out beside the road!!! Now lesto, to see what's in the warehouse, you'll just have to come for a visit! Too many goodies to mention. I will take some warehouse updated photos and post them the next time I'm up there. Needless to say, the collection has g r o w n ! ! ! Mark

I love that washer, that's a real beauty! But what is this? You say Hans came down, but he is nowhere in the pictures to prove that! I'm even beginning to wonder if that chocolate cake every excisted! LOL

I would love to drive up one weekend for a visit and take some pics of your fabulous machines whenever you have time to give me a tour. :)

Ah yes! good ol Kelvinator

O.K. fellow Aussies hands up who remembers the old Kelvinator ads which were done by the famous english comedian Dick Emery?
the slogan was ''Kelvinator has something for everyone''am I correct or am I totally stupid and wrong?
Also the famous Kelvinator customer protection plan.
Why oh why did these good old companies have to get taken over by bloody multinationals?, blast these free trade agreements with third world countries.
