This would have been a cool place to visit, do any appliance makers still have showrooms? I know Zenith had "The Zenith Salon" in Chicago for many years which showcased all products, not sure about others.

I don't know about American makers, but Panasonic has a huge, multi-story showroom in Tokyo with seemingly endless displays of household products. The pic is of an upper shelf system that electrically drops down from the cabinet instead of having regular doors. I can't see much use for this aside from households with someone in a wheelchair, however it's pretty cool and fun to watch. The showroom is part promotional but you can also order a whole kitchen there, including appliances and cabinets, and arrange for installation.

That shelf system is disgustingly awesome. It would be even more futuristic if the fridge was the same kind of setup.

However, back to the WP showroom pic, there is a clear BD machine there. I remember when I was younger, Sears had a DD machine where the front of the cabinet and tub were clear, and the basket was clear so you could see it wash. The Maytag showroom also had a clear dishwasher and a clear lid Dependable Care machine.

We used to have the Whirlpool Design Studio in Atlanta, but it has since been closed to the public.
