 I would say not an exact match to the KM version, but very close. Look closely at the photos the seller has posted and I think you are able to detect a satin aluminum backplate on the panel to the left of the timer. The KM ones are simply painted. I think it's a good guess that the one for sale was private-labeled/badged for a retailer, though.

Agreed - simpler diagnosis in many cases but one thing that has improved with time is the component-ization of parts. What I wouldn't give to be able to snap a new direct-drive FSP pump onto my 54 Frigidaire pulsamatic washer tonight instead of what I know awaits me. And don't even get me started on the 1-18 pump :-)

Start...start...start......
I want to know.....what is with all the hoses on a 1-18's pump......I know the regular tub to pump hose, and outlet to the drain hose.....and then the sump to pump, for the filter flo.....but what are all the other ones for?.......I have 2 WC models, and each one is routed differently......exsecially the one on top of the pump....one machine has a re-route to a split in one of the hoses, the other machine has a pipe coming up to filter area..... just curious | ||

Ugh! You did it!
I've only had a couple of 1-18 washers over the years, all with similar sump and pump arrangements. The hose on the top of the pump that goes up to the top of the tub cover is for venting. Allowing venting to the atmosphere prevents the cavitation - that annoying "sucking" sound when there is no water left to pump. That pump is quite strong so I'd bet the sucking sound it would make without venting would really be noticeable. Probably not the best "after-market" reputation either - the washer that sucks, loud. | ||
