Afternoon (UK) Guys

Does anyone have access or know anyone who has access to the Qualtex website ? I am trying to see if the Resilient bearing carbon face seal is still available. I have been able to source a new resilient mount, but the bits that go in the mount are proving more difficult.

Thanks for any help.
Cheers
Keith

Hi Keith

Is the resiliant mount the early type as on the 3174 with the three screw holes or the later one with the large circlip.

I think the later type also used a counterface on the base of the spin can, is this part ok or are you looking for that part as well.

Anyway if I have, they won't be new ones, If I find them I'll post some photos so you can say what you need.

Any chance of a photo of the machine.

Mathew

Hi Keith

these appear to be available still in Australia.

Stokes appliances part HTT028

Click this link, it's a PDF catalogue.

scroll down to page 23, look for part HTT028.

These would be available to me in a town I go to regularly, if you can't get it direct I'd be happy to pick up and post to you.

There's also a slim chance I'd have a good used one.

Chris.

Hi Mathew,

It is the later one with the large Cir-clip, then spinner was leaking and i am sure water is leaking through the resilient mount and down the spin can spindle onto the pedestal..I will take a pic when i a couple of mins.

Chris..Great..I am not 100% it is this part that is leaking but if i am going to replace the resilient bearing i might as well do this part as well, the one in the machine is quite well worn. Would you be able to find out the price for me :) also just out of interest, could you inquire how much the straight empty hose is part HTT 073.
Thanks for your help.
Keith

Hi Keith

I checked over the weekend and found one of the type, suitable for your repair, sadly as I said it wasn't new, but it has started to perish, though the actual carbon sealing disc is ok.

It seems I need to look out for these as well, I do have a couple of donar spinners I could get one off in an emergency though.

As you've not yet taken the machine apart, hopefully when you do it will be just a matter of lint built up around the shaft.

I can send you this one if you think it would help, but there is signs of the base perishing when compressed as it would be when fitted, so the repair would be at best tempory.

Sorry I can't help with a new one, all the best with the repair.

Mathew

resilliant mount and seal

for the original hoovermatic and spinarinse models.

Whislt I have a couple of these, they don't seem to be interchangable, this seal is spring loaded aginst a stainless steel washer on the base of the spincan shaft.

This one for my 3174, the original one is on borrowed time and could crack through at any time, it's just a matter of takeing it's place in the restoration queue.
