Hi,

Yesterday, my ordered Zanussi ZWH7162J came. It has a 7kg capacity, a 1600rpm spin speed and is made in Italy. All the washes I have done in it have worked all right, and the results are superb, even on the Super Quick cycle, which is the cycle I will use most often. Questions are welcome, and please watch the video link. The video talks about my dryer as well.

Congratulations, hope you enjoy many years service.  Do you find anything better/worse about the new Zanussi versus your old one?

My sister has the same dryer but from the previous range with the blue dial and buttons, although that's in storage at the moment.

Take care,

Jon

The motor is super quiet, even quieter than my nana's Hotpoint, which has a "super silent" sticker on it. It does not have a constant whining either. A prewash takes 1 HOUR and it doubles the time of the Super Quick cycle. It has two extra rinses and two rinse holds, which is unnecessary.

What is going to happen to the old Zanussi?

It's most likely going to the scrap men, as most of the parts are too expensive to replace. I might also strip it down for the useful parts.

Alright, here it is standing outside in the cold. Unfortunately, none of the parts are worth keeping.

I know it's a shame, but as I live in a terraced house there is almost no storage space apart from a full shed, and I couldn't even find a cover! Plus, it is so quiet, you cannot hear it in the same room! My only complaints are that there are no progress indicators and the softener compartment can only fit in concentrated softener. Also, to do a rinse only - 1 hour! The spin is so good that clothes take 50 minutes in the dryer.

Also, I was just wondering, is my washer made in Italy? My dryer is, as it said Zanussi-Electrolux Porcia on the installation tips sheet and it said "Made in Italy" on the polystyrene top.

......

I can't answer where it's made unfortunately but you can rule out the Far East by seeing if it has a Made in EU sticker inside the door like many Zanussi washers do.

The previous generation machines were Italy, Spain & Poland i think.

The Inverter Motors do sound good - amazing that when other manufacturers boast about the quietness of their machines, Zanussi make no big deal of theirs! An hour for rinsing however, is ridiculous! Can you not press SuperQuick on rinses? If not maybe just select a quick wash like Mini30 without detergent to rinse items, perhaps?

Progress indicators have been a problem on Zanussi's for a few years, but least you have an LED time remaining display i guess. Does it not display any symbols like the old LED displays on Jetsystems that showed a thermometer for 'heating' etc? I only use a tiny amount of softener but i'd imagine my Mum who uses quite abit more might find the softener compartment a pain too.

Liam
