I just purchased a Maytag Wringer washer E2LS serial# 12719KW. I would like some information on it and where I can find parts for it.Any help would be appreciated. |

Hi Chet,
With Maytags, the two letters at the end of the serial number is the date code, in this case, "KW".
If you can turn the agitator, while it's on the splined drive shaft AND the transmission is engaged, it sounds to me like the splines within the agitator may be stripped or seriously worn! I could be wrong, but that's what I'm thinking. If that's the case it would also explain why the agitator won't stay in place when it's running with water.

Hi Chet,
Sounds like you need an agitator stop ring to keep the agitator down. It's a cheap and easy fix. Talk to Phil in Ovid, NY - ovidny@gmail.com - he'll help you out. As far as the agitator moving slightly when the agitate button is pushed in (the off position), I've seen that happen with Maytag wringers, but I don't know how to fix it...also not sure it's that big of a deal...maybe it's due to wear...?? Phil would be able to tell you more about that, too. Ted |
