My mil has one of these and is complaining about the amount of lint in her wash. Does this unit with the center post agitator still have the lint filter built into the agitator like the older maytags? If so she has never cleaned it and this could be the problem. I am going by today to see what is up with it. I just don't want to yank on the top and break something if there isn't one there. Thanks
Jon

No removable agitator lint filter

As far as I know, this unit does not have a removable lint filter that you can clean and replace like the "classic" Maytags had. If there is a filter, it is under the agitator and is self-cleaning.

Thanks for the reply dnastrau. I did check this morning and pulled the fabric softener dispenser off and there is just a plastic plate under that. No lint filters like they used to be, just the one under the agitator. She had washed some scatter rugs and they left a lot of lint behind. I cleaned out the drum with a wet paper towel and ran it empty through a cycle and all seems to be clean now. There must have been a huge amount of lint caught in that filter.
