I know this is a stretch, but do any of the Kentucky members have a Hoover twin tub they would be willing to part with for a price? Automatic rinse would be great, but any Hoover will do, its a machine I have searched high and low for but never found, and I would love to have one. My Daiweoo twinnie just isnt the same as the old twin tubs like mom had when I was little.

By All Means Don't Limit Your Search Locally

Hoover TT machines can ship easily (if properly crated/packed) via UPS and it's not as expensive as you think.

IIRC paid <$50 for my unit and while the shipping (via UPS) was more than what one paid for the unit (but not extreme) it arrived safely and without damage. That eBay seller crated and packed the unit to within an inch of it's life. The only minor niggle is one of the wheels popped through the box during shipping.

shipping...

I have seen a few nice ones for sale on ebay, but always on the other side of the country it seems. I have considered risking it the few times I spotted them, but the idea makes me nervous, as I know how badly items can be damaged in shipping, due to either carelessness of UPS workers, or the poor packing of some sellers. Would hate to drop 150 or more in a machine to have it arrived wrecked. Also, selfish reason, but a semi local purchase would possibly give me an excuse to make the trip to meet some other members.

In the form of a kind member willing to assist.

Just that one has found when searching for a vintage unit the more persons on the scent the better the outcome. Provided they all aren't searching for the same thing for themselves.

Pricey

That should be $100 to $150 maybe. Keep your eyes open, something will show up eventually at a far more reasonable price..

I'd love to get ahold of one as well... one model in particular. Growing up here in Canada I had a few friends of the family that had 0610 series machines. Blue control panel with only two knobs, no automatic rinse, no water spigot, and drain hose out out the back. But from what I've read on this forum, they are quite rare now.

"Pricey"

The model 500 in the link is pricey, but it's also very special being the 1st generation of the Hoover machines for sale here in the US. Parts would be scarce for it and these were much more complex machines that the later ones. Kevin, I emailed you about these machines at your yahoo address, waiting for your reply :)
